AHOY! Arrrrgghh you ready for fun and engaging day? These pirate STEAM based centers and activities work with numbers to 120. They can be used to celebrate the 120th day of school or ANY day that you would like to have a pirate adventure. The activities are all pirate based and most of them are focused on counting, writing, and identifying numbers to 120. This can be a special day or centers spread out over a week. You can go all out with a room transformation or keep it simple!
THE BIG IDEA
Your students will set sail on a pirate adventure visiting different locations and completing activities in order to move to the next location on the treasure map. Their goal is to make it to Treasure Island. Once all activities are complete, they will find the treasure and be able to open the treasure chest for their reward. But, beware! There are challenges (academic brain breaks) to complete along the way. If they don’t, they could walk the plank!
This is set up to do in person without COVID-19 precautions; however, we also provide activities and ideas to do this virtually which would also work in a classroom following COVID-19 safety measures. We did this completely virtually. We made a Pirate Day bag that included everything they would need (our kids have supply boxes at home that include, watercolor paints, crayons, dice, scissors, etc.) for the day, topped it with a cute label, and had the parents pick it up on our biweekly Materials Pick-up Day.
This resource is for the 120th day of school or a day that you want to focus on numbers to 120. We have also created the same resource for the 100th day of school. Click this link to check it out:
